An individualized approach to college applications
As the College & Career Advisor at the top public high school in Maryland, Sarah Kessler has helped hundreds of students with all facets of the college application process. Offering customized, one-on-one college advising sessions focusing on each student's individual needs, including, but not limited to:
Course selection, addressing benefits of AP classes vs. Dual Enrollment
Creating a targeted, balanced college list
Establishing a timeline and enforcing deadlines
Guidance on completing the Common Application
Essay topic selection, writing and editing
Requesting letters of recommendation and transcripts
Completing STARS (the Self-reported Transcript & Academic Record System)
Deciding whether or not to submit scores to test optional colleges

Make your application a little less...common
During these two-hour small group sessions, students will review all sections of the Common App, match their Naviance account, request teacher recommendation letters, and complete their high school brag sheets. We will utilize a custom template for crafting Activity Section descriptions, and I will provide guidance on what to include in the Honors Section.
